 International Street Medicine Symposium V The International Street Medicine Symposium V will be held in Atlanta, Georgia from November 4-6, 2009. This symposium will have two co-hosts: The Mary Hall Freedom House and St. Josephs Mercy Care Services. Glaxo SmithKline is sponsoring this event which will include a pre-conference for new Street Medicine Institute sites; keynote speakers, and to be engaged in the homeless population of this region. Previous years have shown a dramatic increase in the need to educate each other on the opportunities as well as challenges we are experiencing to serve this vulnerable population. And each year, new ideas are put into action. Because of the generous funding provided by Glaxo SmithKline, there is no fee associated with registering for this Symposium.We are encouraging presenters. The Street Medicine Institute Symposium committee will be seeking presentations on the innovativeness of the program, new street medicine programs as well as the expansion of programs. ; Up to $700 will be given to the presenter’s organization or to a student to cover travel costs. The abstract form has an extended deadline of June 1, 2009. There are two registrations: the symposium and the hotel. There is no fee to attend the symposium and the form can be completed on-line.
