Great potential 2006/12/04 18:24 Karma: 0
It seems to me that one of the most significant potential benefits of our network is the promotion of the students. I know you all agree with this, but we need to start making some plans on hos to take it to the next level. Rignt now there are a number of outstanding students who are either working between our cities or planning to do so. Evan Howe in Cleveland would love to visit some of you and the students (see photo) from Santa Barbara are making trips to Pittsburgh, India and Nepal. I envision a "Fellowship with out Walls" in which we would extensively share the students and include the readings, mentoring, projects that will make them effective leaders of the future. Does anyone want to focus on thus with me? Jim W.

Recently a nurse practitioner student at Case Western Reserve University contacted me regarding doing his adult health clinical rotation at Care-A-Van. His specific focus is working with underprivileged and underserved population. In addition to working with residents, I feel it is important to establish similar “fellowship” programs with the advanced practice nurses. I will be interested in following this and welcome suggestions on adapting a “street medicine” sub-specialty for APRNs. Aloha, Valerie
