Symposium in San Juan 2008/08/28 15:06 Karma: 0
Hi guys!

I am a 2nd year med student volunteer with project MUSHROOM in Morgantown, WV. I attended the symposium last year and I will be going back this year. 3 other students from MUSHROOM will be comming, too, including Lola Burke, who attending last year's symposium as well.

I was hopping that some other students will check the forum before the symposium gets going because I would really love to hear what students from last year are coming back and what new students we can expect this year. I also hope that we can arrange some student outing at least one night during the symposium.

See you guys in a couple of weeks!

Joanna

Hey everyone!

I'm coming too- I'm Lucie and I'm in my 4th year in Bristol, England and also came to the symposium last year. I'm the only student I know of from the UK coming but maybe someone will surprise me! I have started up a student group in Bristol Medical school which runs awareness nights for fellow med students, supports local homeless services and campaigns to have homeless healthcare included in the curriculum.

Really looking forward to getting to know you all and hearing about what you do. I'm facilitating a student workshop which I think will be friday morning- a great opportunity to share ideas and help each other out so have a strong coffee that day cos I think it's early!!

See you then
Lucie

Hey yall,

Ben King and I will be down there too. We were former directors of the HOMES Clinic in Houston. Now we just like to pretend we still run things, or at least I do(Ben left us for the much more happenin' city of Austin). Glad to see there will be some new and old faces at the conference this year. Looking forward to seeing everyone again! -Kevin

Hey everyone,

I'm the aformentioned Ben. As Kevin said, I've left Houston and found a new set of projects here in Austin. I'm still a masters (public health) student, but now I'm working at the regional trauma center's ER as a research coordinator.

Also, I apologize for being a little remiss in my duties as moderator, but it's great to have people posting again!

One of my main goals for the conference: I want us to put together a group this year with contacts etc. so we can share ideas during the year and not just during the conference (although I'll take the excuse to fly to PR of course).

Looking forward to seeing folks again/ meeting new people. (And you won't have to worry about a student night out, I think that will definitely be a priority)

Ben
