Hi everyone,
My name is Ben King and I'm an Associate Director of the Houston Outreach, Medicine, and Social Services (HOMES) Clinic, part of Healthcare for the Homeless - Houston (HHH). I am also a master's student at the University of Texas School of Public Health here in Houston. To start off the forum, it would be really great if each student could post an introduction of themselves and their program here, including my fellow board members.
The purpose for creating this discussion forum is to allow students involved in homeless healthcare or outreach programs to come together and ask questions, find information, or discuss issues that come up in the work we each do. As you post your introduction, feel free to suggest any specific topics that you would like to see discussed on this site or just start a new discussion thread.
Thanks to everyone at ISMS and the streetmedicine.org site for facilitating this forum. I hope that everyone who joins is rewarded with new ideas and inspiration as we share in each other's stories.
-Ben

Hi all, my name is Marcus Urey. I am one of the coordinators of the UCLA Mobile Clinic Project. I am a second year medical student and really interested in sharing ideas with you all about your student-initiated projects. I wasn't able to attend the street medicine conference, but hopefully I get to attend the next one, and meet you all.

Hi everyone,
Im Lucie Potter from Bristol, England. I'm taking a year out from medicine (between 3rd and 4th) to study a BSc in International Health. I got into homeless healthcare when I did a one month self-selected unit with homeless healthcare services in London. Inspired by hearing about/ seeing some amazing services provided/ run by students when I came to the symposium I am currently looking into setting up something similar in Bristol next year.
Was great to meet some of you at the symposium, I look forward to helping each other out and sharing experiences.
Lucie x

Hi guys, I'm only a few years from my student days, but we're always learning all the time!
This forum is a place for you guys to share new ideas with each other as well as problem solving tips.
Feel free to upload an icon that will show up in yoru profile and next to your posts...maybe your school logo, or a pic of you doing something non-medical.
I promise us "grownups" will stay out of your business, but I just wanted to welcome you all aboard!
BTW, I'm Suzanne, I'm an ER doc in Pittsburgh, am the webmaster of the streetmedicine website and been working with Operation Safety Net/Jim Withers for a number of years. I like to pretend I'm still a student by signing up for graduate classes at U of Pitt.
If you want to help in any way with the website, please let me know!
