Just wanted to pass along my kudos to all the students for a job well-done at the symposium in P.R. I heard an awful lot of positive feedback from the more "senior" folks about how impressed and excited they were with the projects you presented and the enthusiasm, maturity, and insight you showed throughout the conference.
As I mentioned at the meeting, I've been asked (and gladly accepted) to serve as a sort of mentor (aka "Papa Bear" in Lucie lingo) for the SMI student group you've formed. Please know that I'm totally available to you all for help/guidance in any way you see fit--as an advisor, resource, liaison, sounding board, motivator--whatever. So I'll probably be lurking on this forum periodically to see what's happening, but I promise not to meddle unless asked, because what is discussed, promoted, and produced here belongs entirely to you.
It was a real pleasure to meet everybody after hearing so many good things about you from your respective mentors. You are the bright future of the street medicine movement, and I'm honored to stand among you!
