Hi folks-

I'm glad we're getting started on this so quickly. Here are some of the items I would like to include in a directory, please list more if you have any good ideas:

1)City located
2)Number of staff
3)Type of staff (physicians, nurses, outreach workers, etc)
4)Type of director (physician, nurse, etc)
5)"Champion" Provider or not. (Is the founder of the organization still the director?)
6)Outreach methodology (walking teams, mobile vans, etc)
7)Other services (shelter based outreach, housing, social services, etc)
8)Schedule of services (how often do they do outreach, day or night, etc)
9)Main funding sources
10)Paid staff?
11)Integration with existing social services (Is program part of a bigger organization or formally connected to other social service providers?)
12)Integration with existing medical services (Is program affiliated with specific hospital or clinic)
13)Student involvement?


I think all of these things would be helpful to anyone starting a new program.

So with all of these good ideas, how about Emma puts together the Pitt info and I'll put together the info for Houston. We can then post the files on the thread, review them and use them as templates for the other progams as a working model of what and how we would like to include in the database. Whatcha think Emma?

awesome guys sounds great, if we could also include a section on publications/ bibliography so we could look up what has been written about the organisation/ any studies done that would be great

Suzanne has agreed to help us out by setting up a form on this website. I'm compiling fields from our discussions and some I've had over email, and once she's got the necessary plug-ins to Joomla we should be ready build this database. That way it's as grass-roots, open-source, share-ware in its design as possible I think.
