mortality study 2006/12/06 13:03 Karma: 0
I was very happy to see that Mimi and Jim O'Connell are discussing the possiblilty of a comparison study of mortality in their respecive street homeless populations. This highlights the possibility that within the network there are many potential studies (which don't have to be that large)- that could be done. Dave Buck will soon be in a position to beta test his computerized information management model. If anyone else has projects that involve other cities - or interest in starting one - could you keep us posted on the web site? Thanks! - Jim W.

I'm hoping to be able to participate in any of these sorts of projects that would work with the populations of different cities. I'm wondering if any work to characterize the homeless populations of each city would be helpful to lay the groundwork to apply intervenions from one city to the next, i.e. climate and service availability are major factors determing the adaptations necessary for survival on the street, which in turn would affect when and where encounters are likely to occur.
