Welcome to SMI's Executive Director, Kendall Fisher

Kendall FisherKendall brings a wide range of executive leadership experience in social services, higher education, and cultural preservation. She began her career directing a shelter program and, since that time, has devoted her efforts to outreach services. Over her career, she has launched numerous programs to reduce barriers, increase inclusiveness, and bring dignity, hope, and support to the places where people need it the most. She has significant experience partnering with the medical community, including working in emergency departments, chairing several regional medical coalitions, and training medical professionals through the American College of Physicians, state medical associations, hospitals, medical schools, offices, and clinics. 

Before joining the Street Medicine Institute in 2023, Kendall held leadership positions at Northern Kentucky University's Institute for Health Innovation and College of Informatics; she was the founding Executive Director of the college's outreach arm, Informatics+. Her work at NKU focused on bringing access and opportunity to first-generation college students and addressing inequities in healthcare. Prior to that, she served as Executive Director of Women Helping Women, an organization focused on crisis intervention and advocacy around gender-based violence, running a 24-hour multi-county domestic violence / rape crisis outreach center with 25+ staff and 100+ volunteers. Her first Executive Director position was for the Cincinnati Preservation Association, a regional historic preservation advocacy agency.
 
She earned the Mead Johnson Excellence in Teaching Award from Cincinnati Children's Hospital and is a state-certified police instructor in New Jersey and Ohio. Kendall graduated from Miami University of Ohio with a degree in Sociology. She lives in a historic home in Cincinnati and enjoys kayaking, bicycling, and historic preservation.
