Overview

LA County is home to over 40,000 neighbors sleeping on our streets and under our bridges. Street medicine addresses the unique needs of the unsheltered homeless by delivering care directly to them in their own environment. The LA Street Medicine Symposium is one of only two street medicine focused conferences available in the US making this a unique opportunity to connect, learn and innovate together. This event provides an opportunity for street medicine teams, people with lived expertise in homelessness, community members, health plans, community organizations, government representatives and academic medicine to come together in a common space to discuss the current state of street medicine in California, street medicine best practices and where street medicine should go next. This day will be highlighted by two internationally recognized experts in homelessness as our keynote speakers, innovative lectures, and an interactive problem-solving workshop to promote new ideas and new partnerships. 6.5 CME credits are available for this component of our event. In addition to our full day symposium, we are excited to share a Street Medicine Foundations Pre-Symposium designed to share the basics of street medicine including the complexities of rough sleeping, and how it impacts health and decision making. This training is available, free of charge, for those providing healthcare to people experiencing homelessness in Southern California. No CME credit will be offered for the Pre-Symposium. Students are welcome to join our full day symposium but are not eligible for the pre-symposium event this year.
